Research On Space Design Of Streets Connecting Old And New Urban Districts

With the accelerated pace of city construction and continuous development of new urban regions, the separation of the new and the old urban regions has become a problem. How to fuse the new and the old urban regions and build diversified vital streets, which are keys to linking up the two kinds of regions, has become a matter of concern. This thesis sets the design practice of Mudanjiang Xishiyi street as the case, finds the existing problems through literature arrangement, field research and comprehensive analysis, proposes the design thought and strategy of streets linking up the old and the new urban regions, and summarizes common and regular principles and approaches of street design from two perspecti ves of rationality and sensibility. Hence, the thesis optimizes the spatial frameworks of Mudanjiang streets, builds comprehensive landscape system of urban streets, satisfies daily functional need of urban residents, and proposes the new theory and explor ation experience of developing urban street space.The research content of this thesis is divided into four parts. First, raise questions. The background, purpose and significance of the research are expounded, and the current research status are summarized and reviewed in this part. Then the research direction and focus are established, and the research framework of this thesis is sorted out. Second, analyze questions. In this part, the present situations of Mudanjiang City are summarized and the improvement targets are proposed by investigating and analyzing existing problems of Mudanjiang Xishiyi street. Then the theory of symbiosis concept and the theory of emotional design are illustrated and understood in depth in order to lay a theoretical foundation for the following part. According to incoherence of regions, disarrangement of street space and disharmony of environment atmosphere, three design principles of Mudanjiang Xishiyi street are proposed to be the basis of following part, which are theories of harmony in diversity, making new by going back to tradition and getting refined internally and externally. Third, further analyze and solve problems. The strategy and method of expression in design of Mudanjiang Xishiyi street are proposed from perspectives of rationality and sensibility. Fourth, solve problems. By testing and demonstrating the design theory according to the practical case, the expression methods of rational and emotional designs in Mudanjiang Xishiyi street are further discussed. The design theory is tested and demonstrated from four aspects of the overall design idea of street comprehensive function, the overall expression of street buildings, the detail permeation of street landscape and the atmosphere building of city furniture, so that the design practices of Mudanjiang Xishiyi street can be guided.
