With the rapid development of civil aviation transportation industry in china, the flow of air traffic increases continuously, and the capacity of some busy airports has almost saturated, then lead to the imbalance between capacity and flow, flight delays. More and more domestic airports have begun to address the above problems by increasing the number of runway. Because far spaced parallel runways have to occupy large area and need high investment, usually choose to build closely spaced parallel runways. Currently, Closely spaced parallel runways only use segregated parallel operation mode in domestic, though this mode is safe enough, while it reduce the runway capacity, so how to improve the runway capacity when using closely spaced parallel runways has become a major issue.Compared with the current widely used segregated parallel operation mode to closely spaced parallel runways, the paired mode of closely spaced parallel runways can improve the runway capacity greatly. This paper launches a study on key techniques of closely spaced parallel runways in the paired mode. Firstly, the paper introduces the paired mode of closely spaced parallel runways,which consists of paired departure and paired approach. Secondly, analyzes the key factors when using paired departure to closely spaced parallel runways, the time interval of paired aircraft and the crosswind conditions are determined. Then, making a study on separation of aircrafts for paired approach to closely spaced parallel runways, which is based on the analysis about the process of flying and the change in time and space of paired aircrafts. Finally, by analyzing the characteristics of paired mode, a appropriate model for runway capacity assessment is established, through example computation the capacity of Closely Spaced Parallel Runways under Paired Mode is received, and comparing the result with the capacity of segregated parallel operation mode to closely spaced parallel runways, which shows runway capacity under paired mode have obvious advantages.
