Aerodrome with Closely Spaced Parallel Runway(CSPR) has significant advantages in saving land and improving runway capacity compared with the single runway. Currently,airports in Shanghai and Chongqing are all having runways with CSPR configuration.However, since related research and standards fall behind the situation abroad, the CSPR capacity growth is not significant compared to the single runway, affecting the transport capability of aerodrome with CSPR. Carrying out the research on methodology of the improving capacity of CSPR is of great practical significance and academic value for implementing CSPR, increasing airport capacity, saving aerodrome land and promoting construction of green airports.The important factors that affecting capacity of CSPR, such as wake vortex, runway centerline spacing and approach procedure, were systematically analyzed in the thesis. Under the condition of conventional runway operation mode, the capacity calculation models of CSPR were established for the layout of terminal building in one side and both sides of CSPR.Based on the systematic and comprehensive researches of principle and effect on improving CSPR capacity in the condition of relevant parallel approach(staggered approach and high angle approach) and paired approach, the corresponding capacity models of CSPR for advanced approaches were derived, which form groundwork of application and simulation thereafter. By way of computer programming and Simmod software simulation, with the application background of same runway configuration, layout of terminal area and aircraft mix as Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, the capacities and delays of the airport runways were calculated and simulated and showed the effective and remarkable results of increasing capacity, reducing delays and cost in the case of using advanced approaches.
