An Investigation On The Activity Space Of The Elderly In Guangzhou 12 Urban Park

With the exacerbating aging trend of China's urban population,the social structure is now undergoing a series of changes.Thus,how the elderly spend a comfortable old age has become a common problem faced by our country.This paper takes Guangzhou 12 city parks as the research object,on the basis of the theory of environmental psychology and behavior,and uses the method of Post Occupancy Evaluation(POE)to evaluate the using status of the investigation and analysis respectively from the main features of the elderly,activity status,distribution law and landscape elements of the park.So as to obtain the environmental characteristics of the urban parks that t are often gathered in the elderly and the problems that the elements have to meet the needs of the elderly.And summarizes the optimization strategies for the design and management of modern urban parks for the special needs of the elderly groups.Through questionnaire survey and field investigation,the POE method is used to analyze the factors.The results are summarized as follows: 1,The main factors that affect the elderly to park activities are their own factors,family factors and park construction and other factors.2,The lack of space construction and management for the elderly groups in Guangzhou park includes: the lack of the rest facilities,fitness facilities,health and identification information for the elderly,and the static activity areas are easily disturbed.3,The types of activity space that old people often congregate include the entrance and exit scenic area,water margin,shade square and other typical activity space.To sum up,puts forward the optimization design strategy improved as follows according to the characteristics of space welcomed by the elderly.(1)The garden road that needs to be smooth and slippery,the garden facilities that takes shelter from the rain,the elements of the active areas that satisfies the needs of the elderly,including the landscape environment of ecological health.(2)The site needs to be functional and to distinguish the dynamic and static sites;(3)We need to promote the mental and humanistic care for the old people's nostalgia,anxiety and loneliness,and creates a suitable open private space.On the other hand,the management optimization strategy includes:(1)Managers need to implement dynamic management to increase their service to tourists;(2)At the same time,managers also need to increase the maintenance of various infrastructure facilities in the park.
