Study On "24-zigs" Mountain Road's Engineering And Contemporary Value

The “24-zigs” mountain road is a strategic node in Guizhou-Yunnan Road.During the Second World War,the “24-zigs” mountain road,Sichuan-Guizhou Road,Burma Road,Sino-Indian Road and the “Hump line” constituted the “China Anti-Japanese War Lifeline”.It made an important contribution to ensure the US military aid materials sent to the front line of the war timely and contacted the Burma Road and the southwest rear closely.This paper studies the “24-zigs” mountain road from the perspective of engineering technology and construcures,and explores its historical significance and contemporary values.Firstly,this paper describes of “24-zigs” mountain road's time background,construction process,survey line selection as well as transport volume firstly.Then it discusses the meaning and effect of opening up the “24-zigs” mountain road in detail.The study clarified that the Chinese engineers and Chinese people were the main force to complete the improvement project of “24-zigs” mountain road in 1944.Secondly,this paper analyzes the technical indexes of “24-zigs” mountain road and compares the construction difficulty of “24-zigs” mountain road and G320 national road based on the site survey.Through the comprehensive consideration of the linear indicators and the engineering quantity,it can be proved that building the “24-zigs”mountain road was inevitable and absolute during the war.Then,in order to evaluate the linear coordination of the “24-zigs” mountain road,the paper uses the accident prediction module and the design consistency module of IHSDM safety evaluation software to analyze the original line and the improved line of“24-zigs” mountain road.What's more,through analyzing vehicle lateral offset of each curve's section can get the driving rules and driving dangerous area,then to evaluate the traffic safety on “24-zigs” mountain road.The research indicates that,as a very special military road,the “24-zigs” mountain road has a good linear design and traffic safety.Besides,by analyzing the drainage system and retaining wall of “24-zigs”mountain road,it found that when faced with the urgent wartime and the more complex geographical condition,the design of “24-zigs” mountain road not only realized the strategic goal of opening to the traffic timely,but also considered the sustainable development of the road.The exquisite drainage design guarantees the stability of thesubgrade and the slope and provides a technical reference for the modern mountainous road's drainage project and slop protection project.Finally,the paper summarizes the engineering revelation and the humanistic connotation of the “24-zigs” mountain road,and on this basis to analyze the contemporary value of the road.This study shows that “24-zigs” mountain road plays an important role in carrying forward the national spirit and enlightening the contemporary highway construction.
