As a contemporary sophisticated weapons, missile can accurately devastate intermediate-range targets.Therefore missile attracts the national military's attention. To form fighting capacity , it requires a lot of training to make each operators operate proficiently and make a good collaboration. Missile weapons also need regular maintenance and system testing, but because of the huge volume and complex structure of missile weapon system, especially the life and reliability of some sensitive electronic components are limited certain number of uses, it is cannot do frequent power-on operation.This paper used virtual reality technology to achieve a missile flight visual simulation system design,it can depict a missile from the launch,flight to wreck the target,this system can not only test the system state of missile equipment to ensure that missile weapons systems maintain good operation capability,but also can provide some helps to army's normalized training. The main works of this article are as follows:(1) Missiles trajectory calculation and flight simulation is the key to visual simulation system.the establishment of missile-target coordinates relations based on the relative movement of missiles and target ship, then make the missile kinematics and dynamics analysis, under the conditions of small perturbation linearization .We can get simplified motion equations of pitch channel, building the missile pitch channel control model to get the data of ballistic trajectory calculation.(2) In-depth study of the advanced 3D modeling techniques, the use of DOF technology, texture mapping technology, LOD ,using modeling software Creator to complete the construction of missile weapon system and the three-dimensional target ship model. Then we can use elevation data and satellite image to make terrain scene. With the use of external reference technology, packaging technology and other technology, we can optimize the model to improve the system fluency.(3) Multi-channel technology in Vega Prime window is used to observe the missile and target sports ; To improve the realistic visual simulation system, we can use particle systems to create special effects scenes, including rain, snow, clouds and other environmental effects,missile wake effects and explosions effects .These effects are set exclusive trigger switch;finally, we use BUMP collision detection methods to achieve accurate and high speed detection of the missile and the target ship collision.(4) We have used VS2005 software as a system application development platform.Vega Prime visual simulation sofftware is a visual rendering tool and MATLAB trajectory simulation program is a missile movement of the driver. We use a common API data interface to connect it. Then, we use the C ++ language to write system driver program. So, we achieved the functions .of weather switching,angle switching and scene switching. Finally,we used MFC generate applications to complete the design of missile visual simulation system.
