With the development of society and economy, people's time is getting more and more precious,and consumers need a "one-stop" service. As a result, the commercial complex has become one of the types of public buildings that are closely related to our daily lives. In the era of experience economy, the consumption pattern has changed from traditional consumption to experiential consumption. Consumers gradually began to pursue the commercial complex with characteristic space and individual experience, thus promoted the creation and development of the theme experience commercial complex which focused on the theme construction and consumer experience. The atrium space is the most characteristic and the most dynamic part of the commercial complex, which enriches the content of space and improves the experience. It is the core theme where consumers enjoy theme and activities. However, in our country, the research on the atrium space of commercial complex is still based on the traditional consumption pattern. Therefore, with the influence of experiential consumption, the research on the atrium space of the theme experience commercial complex not only can improve the quality of the atrium space,but also can help the commercial complex to form distinctive theme characteristics and interpret the theme better.This paper takes the atrium space of the theme experience commercial complex as the research object. And analyzes the background of the research topic and the present situation at home and abroad, systematically combs the relevant theory. The paper analyzes the experiential consumption, discusses the change of consumer psychology and behavior, and analyzes the concept of the theme of the commercial complex. On this basis, this paper defines the concept of theme experience commercial complex, and makes a deep research on the theme creation and theme types. At the same time, it analyzes the importance of the atrium space to the theme expression. Then, aiming at the present situation of the atrium space of the theme experience commercial complex, taking the characteristics and elements of the atrium space as the starting point, starting from its spatial characteristics, combined with the function mechanism of the theme creation and the characteristic experience, the paper puts forward three key elements of the atrium space design. Based on this, combining with a large number of cases analysis, the paper further systematically summarizes the design method of the atrium space in the theme experience commercial complex from the three aspects of form guiding, interface rendering and environment foiling.This paper attempts to deal with the demand of business theme and the development demand of the atrium space in commercial complex, then perfect the theory and design method of the atrium space in theme experience commercial complex. It is hoped that the research results of this paper will provide some help for the future research and practice.
