With the development of city transportation, public bicycle and online car-hailing services emerge, causing changes in big city's passenger transportation structure. However, resident's traveling inconvenience caused by traffic congestion has not been fundamentally solved.Although, various measures are taken positively in many cities to ease the pressure, the effect is not obvious. The main reason is that the big city focus more on transportation equipment supply without enough analysis on resident's choices of passenger transportation mode.In order to welcome the new situation in big city's passenger transportation structure, relieve transportation congestion, improve transportation efficiency and transportation environment, this thesis deeply analyzes resident's choices of passenger transportation mode based on analyzing characteristics of passenger transportation mode in big cities at this stage. The main work consists of several aspects as following:Firstly, according to the existed research, the thesis concludes and analyzes influential factors on resident's traveling choices of passenger transportation mode from both micro and macro aspects.Secondly, the thesis designs questionnaire on resident's traveling choices of passenger transportation mode from the whole traveling process by individual, gains sample data by investigating traveling of residents in Xi'an downtown, and analyzes characteristics of passenger transportation mode of residents in Xi'an downtown from four levels: travelers' individual property, traveling property, connect property and method property. Finally, according to random utility theory and taking resident's usual traveling method bus as reference mode, the thesis constructs choice pattern of resident'spassenger transportation mode, that is,a binary logistic regression model including six passenger transportation mode choices as walking vs.bus, private car vs.bus, taxis vs.bus,online-hailing car vs.bus, public bicycle vs.bus, and subway vs.bus.Using SPSS software to conduct model checking and parameter estimation, the thesis analyzes the relationship between the choices of traveling mode and relevantly obvious influential factors and offers scientific basis on structure adjustment strategies of passenger transport mode in big cities.
