Construction,manufacturing and transportation are amongst the most energy-intensive industries,which are also the main source of greenhouse gas.Construction industry has a long life cycle;its energy consumption and environmental influence are lasting.Considered its properties,developing green architecture has become one of the national priorities and the inevitable trend in China's construction industry.The green architecture in China has been improved significantly in the past decade.Chinese universities,research institutes and organizations carry out many world-leading research topics in this field.The industrial chain is well established with the corresponding equipment and products,which lays firm foundations for its promotion.Although a large amount of LCA studies have indicated that green buildings can create significant economic and environmental benefits,its development in practice is relatively slow,especially in terms of the commercial residential buildings,and the real estate developers in China are not motivated to developer green buildings.This article first summarizes the results of the studies of green buildings in China,clarifies the definition of green building,and then compares the current state of green architecture in both China and abroad.Based on the characteristics of Chinese green building market,the life cycle of green building is divided into four stages,including decision design,development & construction,operation & maintenance and demolition & recycling.Each stage will be conducted the cost analysis.The green commercial residential building is analyzed in details with case studies to discover the reason for why the Chinese developers are not willing to develop green buildings.Lastly,corresponding advices are given for how to actively promote the green buildings among the developers.
