A Research On Space Design In Medical-and-Care Institutions For The Elderly

In recent years,the aging situation in China has become more and more severe,and the number of disabled and semi-disabled elderly has increased year by year.They are suffering from chronic diseases,prone to recurrent diseases,and are unable to get a good performance in the traditional old-age care model.Institutions for elder face new challenges in the medical care services.As a result,medical-care-institution for elderly that can provide specialized health care services has emerged.At the same time,,with a series of documents issued,the people's government has been making an effort to combine medical and health service with elderly care service.Medical-and-care institutions for the aged has therefore topped the construction of elderly care facilities.In this paper,medical-and-care institutions for the aged equipped with medical rooms are taken as the subject of research,where doctor's round of visits,elderly's route of visit and the path of medicine delivery were traced and studied,and the use of medical rooms and nurse's stations were observed and surveyed.With the knowledge gained of the medical service features,current problems and space demand in these elderly care institutions,this paper attempts to offer advices on functions,and space relations of medical rooms and suggestions on key points of space design for medical and rehebilitation rooms in medical-and-care institutions for the elderly.
