Because of the urban overdevelopment,urban floods?stromwater pollutions and other stormwater management problems become the key points that restrict the urban sustainable development.To solve the problems in urban stormwater management,the" sponge city"theory starts to be applied and developed.Plants material is one of the key factors of the sponge city,it palys an important role in the stormwater retention,ecological function and aesthetic value.Reasonable plants selection and design is the key that make the LIDs function better and maintain for a long time.Nevertheless,there are many deficiencies in the studies about the waterlogging resistance and stormwater purification ability of plants in the LIDs.Ornamental grass is natural?seasonal?strong resistance and needn't too much extra artificial care.Ornamental grass has the potentional to become the ideal landscape material in the construction of sponge city.10 species of ornamental grasses that are in good shape among the world and have great development potential are chosen't to be conducted.They are Arundo donax 'Variegata'?Calamagrostis epigeios?Chasmanthium latifolium?Cortaderia selloana 'Pumil'?Miscanthus sinensis 'Zebrinus'?Saccharum ravennae?Carex argyi?Carex callitrichos var.nana?Car ex heterolepis and Car ex planiculmis.Ten species of ornamental grasses were experimented under 72h waterlogging stress and recovery using pot soaking method.The physiological indexes including the soluble sugar content?the membrane permeability?the proline content?the MDA and the Fv/Fm of treated group and control group were measured to compare the waterlogging stress and recovery abilities of different ornamental grasses.Comparing the removal rate of TN?TP and CODcr of 10 ornamental grasses by conducting simulated stormwater hydroponic experiment to study the stormwater purification capacity of 10 ornamental grasses.Finally,a comprehensive evaluation on water-logging resistance and stormwater purification capacity of 10 ornamental grasses was given according to subordinate function values analysis.1.The comprehensive evaluation for waterlogging stress resistance of 10 ornamental grasses is Arundo donax 'Variegat'>Cortaderia selloana 'Pumila'>Miscanthus sinensis 'Zebrinus'>Chasmanthium latifolium>Saccharum ravennae>Carex argyi>Carex heterolepis>Calamagrostis epigeios>Carex planiculmis>Carex callitrichos var.nana.2.The comprehensive evaluation for waterlogging stress recovery of 10 ornamental grasses is Carex planiculmis>Carex callitrichos var.nana>Arundo donax 'Variegat'>Calamagrostis epigeios>Miscanthus sinensis 'Zebrinus'>Saccharum ravennae>Chasmanthium latifolium>Carex argyi>Cortaderia selloana 'Pumila'>Carex heterolepis.3.The comprehensive evaluation for stormwater purification of 10 ornamental grasses is Arundo donax 'Variegat'>Cortaderia selloana 'Pumila'>Miscanthus sinensis 'Zebrinus'>Chasmanthium latifolium>Saccharum ravennae>Calamagrostis epigeios>Carex argyi>Carex heterolepis>Carex planiculmis>Carex callitrichos var.nana.4.The comprehensive evaluation for waterlogging stress resistance and revoverystormwater purification of 10 ornamental grasses is Arundo donax'Variegatr>Cortaderia selloana 'Pumila'>Miscanthus sinensis 'Zebrinus'>Chasmanthium latifolium>Saccharum ravennae>Carex argyi>Calamagrostis epigeios>Carex planiculmis>Carex heterolepis>Carex callitrichos var.nana.Among 10 kinds of ornamental grasses,the comprehensive performance of 6 kinds of Gramineous ornamental grasses is better than other 4 kinds of Cyperaceae ornamental grasses;tall plant type grasses perform better than most medium plant type grasses while the short plant type grasses perform worst.
