Okra is an economic crop with edible, medicinal and ornamental value. It is cultivated throughout the tropical and warm temperate regions of the world.Because of the nutrient rich, with high development and utilization value, okra has become a healthy vegetable in recent years.Tender fruit pods as the main parts of the consumption of okra, contain a variety of mineral elements and protein, amino acids, fat compounds, pectin, flavonoids, polysaccharides and vitamins.Flavonoids were known as vitamin P to play a role in antioxidant,anti-aging,anti-cancer,improve blood circulation, reduced the incidence of heart disease and so on.In this paper, the contents of flavonoids in the seven accessions of okra and MRZ were determined. The content of flavonoids in YGF was 2.56%,and the flavonoid content of JQK in tender fruit pods was up to 2.03%.The results showed that the content of pectin in the dry powder of KLB was up to 21.71%.In the determination of different tissues of MRZ,the highest content of pectin was 18.89%.China has a long history of planting okra and has a lot of okra accessions, but there were few studies on the classification and innovation of germplasm resources. In the present study, the genetic diversity among 34 accessions of okra was analyzed using the morphological marker technique and 15 intersimple sequence repeat(ISSR)primers. The results of morphological markers showed that these okra were divided into two categories that are roughly consistent with the collection area. The genetic diversity among 34 accessions of okra was analyzed using 15 intersimple sequence repeat(ISSR)primers.Out of the 128 repeatable bands detected,90 bands were polymorphic. The percentage of polymorphic bands was 70.3%,with a mean of 7.6 percentage of polymorphic bands per primer. With the 128 bands, the phylogenetic trees were constructed using the Unweighted Pair-Group Method with Arithmetic Average(UPGMA)cluster analysis. The 34 accessions were divided into two major groups in the evolutionary tree. The result was consistent with morphological analysis. The polymorphism information content(PIC)values varied from 0.4507 to 0.6801,indicating that the primers used were authentic. The genetic distance among the sample accessions ranged from 0.6 to 0.94.The results demonstrated the applicability of these two techniques in the study of genetic diversity of okra.It can provide some valuable references in selecting of okra varieties, hybrid breeding, germplasm development and utilization of okra in the future.
