This translation report was based on the translation of Meant to Be. Meant to Be was written by American Romantic writer Terri Osburn in May,2013. It was her first novel of Anchor Island Series..The novel was about a special trip across the Anchor Island made by Beth. She planed to meet her fiance---Lucas's parents, but during the single driving, she came across a sexual man who was Lucas's step-brother and loved him for at the first sight, then, a triangle love was presented. The novel has simple and comprehensible expression, vivid and concise description and humorous and creative language. In the process of translation, difficulties of three levels were encountered, including words, phrases and sentences. The difficulties in words involve ellipsis, implied meaning, proper names and transformation of parts of speech. The challenges in the translation of phrases lie in the faithful convey of affective meaning. The difficulties of sentences include reconstruction, active-passive conversion and use of four-character structure. In order to make successful translation, the translator should first get familiar with the writing style, plot and character relation of the novel. With a macro grasp of the contents, the translator can solve the micro linguistic issues through searching relevant materials, comparing different language data and revising expressions.
