A Translation Project Report Of Power And Choice-an Introduction To Political Science (Chapter7)

This is a translation project report on chapter7in part Ⅲ of the book entitled “Power and Choice——An Introduction to Political Science” written by W. Philips Shively. This book provides a general, comparative introduction to the major concepts and themes of political science. Politics may be seen as the use of power or the production of a public choice. History facts and many cases in different countries are cited to analyze the cause of formation, the influence factor and the different forms of Democracy and Autocracy.This report introduces the author, main content and linguistic feature of the source text and then discusses the main translation methods adopted and difficulties in the translating process. The report, with the consideration of the text type and linguistic feature, proposes some translation techniques, such as appropriate word-choosing, addition and omission，and some other methods. In the end, the report concludes with lessons to learn from and unsolved problems in this project.
