This is a translation project report of the fourth chapter of Film Music: A Very Short Introduction written by Kathryn Kalinak, professor of English and film studies at Rhode Island College. The book gives a brief introduction to the nature, function and development history of film music. The language feature of this book is objective, logical and accurate. Faced with the translation task of informative text and difficulties caused by the differences between English and Chinese and guided by Nida's translation theory of Dynamic Equivalence, by using relevant translation skills and methods, such as word order adjustment and sentence division, the translator resolved the difficulties encountered during the translation process. By this book, the translator hopes Chinese readers will be able to learn more knowledge about the relevant field. Meanwhile, the translator also hopes this translation report can provide reference for the translation of text of the same kind, namely, informative text.
