This translation project report is based on the Third Chapter of Lifestyle Wellness Coaching, written by James Gavin and Madeleine Mcbrearty and published in 2013 by Human Kinetics, Inc. The third chapter of Lifestyle Wellness Coaching introduces readers to models that clearly identify clients' progress through the stages of change, and details how professionals engage in well-designed communication strategies to motivate, guide, inform, and support clients' processes toward personal change with a holistic approach. It is of great academic and guiding significance. The main problem in the translation is the barrier of different linguistic structure between the source language and the target language, and domestication under the guidance of Nida's Dynamic Equivalence theory is applied to solve it. Based on the detailed background introduction of the source text, it employs several translation techniques such as amplification, omission, separation, transforming voices, and transforming abstraction to concretion to realize the closest and most natural equivalence between the target text and the source text. The report elaborates on the problem and the application of domestication with examples and sums up the lessons learned and problems to be solved, which hopefully can help other translators for such type of text.
