This report pertains to the English-Chinese translation of The Second Side of Leadership: COMMUNICATION,an excerpt of the book titled 21 Great Leaders: Learn Their Lessons,Improve Your Influence.The book was written by Pat Williams and Jim Denney,featuring biographies and lessons from 21 leaders from all aspects of the public arena.The three leaders in the source text are Winston Churchill,Martin Luther King Jr.and Ronald Reagan.The book was published in 2015,which makes it a very recent publication on leadership.This report discusses the translation practice undertaken and the corresponding analysis of translation problems and challenges.It consists of the following five sections:Section 1: Introduction.This section introduces the source text and authors of the book,as well as the structure of this translation report.Section 2: Process Description.This section introduces pre-translation preparation,schedule of the translation and strategies used during the translation.In order to do a good translation and finish it on time,it is necessary to make preparation and schedule.Section 3: Translation Challenges and Case Studies.This section analyzes the challenges and strategies used.Seven categories are discussed under this section,including proper nouns,titles,quotations,long sentences,figures of speech,humor,and foreignizition & domestication.Section 4: The Editing Process.This section explains the difference between editing and proofreading,and why editing is a critical step for a translation.Section 5: Summary.This section summarizes the aim of a good translation and what challenges emerged during the entire project.
