With economic reforms deepening, more and more sino-foreign equity joint ventures have come to the fore;Translation of management documents within companies would be particularly important to the unified company management and the improvement of enterprise's international competitive ability. The quality of the translation decides the comprehensions and implements of the rules and regulations.Institutional text is a kind of norm text mainly restraining employees, which is written in the refined and rigorous words and expressions.Due to language differences, special attention must be paid to syntax(concise, many omissions of the subjects)and grammar(especially the passive voice)and some part of vocabularies(extensive use of modal verbs, such as shall),and so on,w hen translating this kind of text. The translator chooses the Rules and Regulations on Safety of Enterprise as the translation material and writes the translation report, which consists of five parts: the first section chiefly introduces the main research contents of this report;the second section mainly introduces the project context, requirements and its significance;the third section mainly describes the translation process including task preparation, task process and draft proofreading;the fourth section, the key part of this report, applies translation strategies to analyze the translation problems and then put forward the relevant solutions.Specially, the translation of syntax-restructuring is discussed in this section, which can be fur ther divided into four aspects: implicit Chinese subject into explicit English one(the subject is not mentioned in a sentence, but readers can obviously infer it;this kind of non-subject sentence, which belongs to declarative sentence,is unacceptable in English,so we have to restructure the syntax in translation),especially displayed on the subject-predicate logic relation;zero-subject in the Chinese text into passive voice pattern in English;formal subject “it” structure borrowed into the English sentence pattern and ellipsis to rebuild the original Chinese structure. In the last section, the author makes conclusion by pointing out the problems that have arisen during the translation process and the room for improvement.
