The author also adopts translation according to cultural context and proper translation of Chinese four-character phrase;2) To achieve Nida's functional equivalence theory on syntactic level, the author converts active structure of Chinese into passive structure of English and uses inanimate-subject sentence of English;3) To achieve Nida's functional equivalence theory on textual level, the author adopts appropriate devices in textual cohesion, including hypotaxis and parataxis, repetition and substitution. Besides, the author converts loose structure of Chinese into compact structure of English.As popular science is an important and specialized field, its translation should be taken seriously. Before translation, the whole book is read carefully by the author for a thorough understanding of the content and features of the original text. During the translation process, proper conversions are adopted. In the meantime, the author analyzes all words and sentences carefully to achieve equivalence between original text and target text to an extreme.
