A Report On Translation Of Quality Manual Of Nanchang Dahongren Tube Co., Ltd. From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

The quality manual is a kind of administrative documents which gives a general description, establishment and implementation for quality system. It affects the normal operation of an enterprise's major production and operation. It also affects the enterprise's image and the overall job quality. This report is based on author's translation project which is authorized by Nanchang Dahongren Tube Co., Ltd. into English. A detailed description and summary of this translation practice is presented in this report from a translator's perspective.The report consists of five parts. First of all, the author elaborates on the task description of the translation project, including the requirements and purposes of the task, the application and the concept of the quality manual. Next comes the description of the preparation work which covers the analysis of the source text type, the writing standards and structure of quality manual, and the collection of professional terms, etc. Then the author makes a literature review of the translation theory----functionalist skopos theory, which is used in the translation practice. The following part is includes the detailed presentation of the translation process' s analysis, which includes the discussion about the typical case combined with translation theory and translation strategies. The last part of the report contains the author's summary and reflection to the translation practice. In addition, the author summarizes the problems need to be resolved and his own weaknesses, thereby seeks the ways for improvement.As the report reveals, a good translator should have profound bilingual basic skills as well as the necessary translation skills. Moreover, both the adequate preparation, the related professional knowledge reserve and the timely communication with the customer are greatly indispensible. As a student of MTI, the actual translation practice is an indispensable part besides the theoretical learning in class, so as to lay a good foundation for the future translation work and accumulate enough experience. The author looks back and summarizes the experiences during the practice in this report. This report would give some reference for the C-E translation of the articles of association and the quality manual.
