A Report On C-E Translation Of Shenzhen Aukey Staff Rules And Regulations Manual

This is a report based on the Chinese-English translation of Shenzhen Aukey Staff Rules and Regulations Manual,which was selected from the company where the author spent the internship period and its contents are about the company's rules and regulations concerning staff administration.The staff rules and regulations manual is a main medium to diffuse the company culture.Therefore,it is very necessary to have a good research on the translation practice,which can improve the translation quality and efficiency of the text type,increase company-employees' the communication,then help the company better manage the personnel,and promote the Chinese company management culture to the world.After reading and understanding the source text,the author classifies the original text into the informative text.The source text language is objective and formal.The biggest problem the author encountered in the translation process was how to express the characteristics of the source text and accurately presents the source text information to the target readers.According to the features of the source text and main problems existing in translation,the author finally determined to use Skopos Theory to guide the translation practice,which aims to help the translator to express the meaning of the original text to the largest extent in the manual translation process for getting the expected translation effect.This report firstly introduces the background of the translation task;then the translation process is described in detail;after that,the case analyses are made which analyze the source text and the target text carefully.The case analyses based on Skopos Theory is the main part of this translation report,which will strongly prove that Skopos Theory has actual guiding effects on the Chinese-English translation of informative texts like Aukey Staff Rules and Regulations Manual.The theory not only makes the target text more objective,formal,clearer and briefer,but also makes the target text more convincing.Finally,the author summarizes the problems and enlightenment from the translation practice and gets the conclusion that only with the combination of theories and practice can the excellent target text be gained.
