A Report On The English Translation Practice Of Research On Spam Filtering Technology In Social Network

This is a translation of a Chinese academic paper in the field of computer information filtering that was commissioned by the School of Computer Science and Technology of Harbin University of Science and Technology. This paper is the translation report after the completion of mission and proofreading. The original text is a classical academic paper, which is selected from the master thesis of School of Computer Science and Technology, Harbin University of Science and Technology, '"Research on Spam Filtering Technology in Social Network"It is common to find the micro-blog spammers in social network at home and abroad, which are actually the source of producing the spams. One of the key solutions to the spamming micro-blogs is to recognize those spammers in the social network. There are different features for domestic and overseas social networks. To reduce the spamming, how to recognize the spam accounts in the social network based on its specific features becomes an important research topic in the field of information filtering.This report consists of seven parts. Part 1 is introduction. Part 2 is the introduction of translation project, including the background of mission, main content of translation, selection purpose of the text and the client's requirements. Part 3 introduces the process of translation, including the preparation phase of translation, the work in translation process and post-translation stage. Part 4 is the case study of translation, including the translation techniques for English of information filtering technology and the examples of translation revision. Part 5 introduces the required qualities of the translator for the translation of information filtering technology. Part 6 is the summary of translation practice, including the summarized translation experiences from the translation practice, reflection of problems during the translation practice and the relevant solutions, in order to bring along the inspiration and prospect for the study and work in the future. The last part is the conclusion of this report.According to the analysis on the translation of this dissertation for the master degree and the case studies, this report mainly discussed the features of academic papers of information filtering technology. Based on the functional equivalence theory and Peter Newmark's theory of text analysis and in the condition of applying the domesticating translation strategy for the informative text, it discussed the problems during the translation of academic paper of information filtering technology from Chinese into English:how to choose translation strategy and grasp the translation skills, how to prepare and make use of supporting information and tools before the translation, communication with the client, ask the relevant professionals for the expertise, and how to guarantee the quality and schedule of translation during the process of translation, proofreading and review.
