A Consecutive Interpreting Report On Work Summary Of DPIB In Rumaila Oilfield

In recent years, with the growing development of China's petroleum business overseas, China has been promoting communication and collaboration with international community after its accession to the WTO, giving rise to a highlighted role for interpreting in more and more projects overseas. Based on an interpreting practice when the author served in DPIB (Daqing Petroleum Iraq Branch), this thesis is written to discuss some problems and corresponding solutions on such conference interpreting occasions. It is comprised of seven parts in general. To begin with, the author mainly introduces the background, as well as the importance and reasons why it is written and then depicts the interpreting task, including its backdrop, quality and what were required. Next the author talks about some preparations before the interpreting task, including parallel texts the interpreter resorted to and a preparation plan at length. After it, the process of interpreting is illustrated with examples and the author puts forward some problems and corresponding solutions as well as interpreting theory and strategy, under the guidance of which, the author analyzes some cases, including interpreting of terminology, long difficult sentences, numbers as well as Indian and Pakistani accent. After the conference, the author made an evaluation chart and filled in it along with the speaker to demonstrate what can be improved next time. Last, the author draws a conclusion of all the preparations, problems and corresponding solutions.This report provides some references for the author's future development, and can be considered as useful materials for other interpreters in this field and as an enrichment of interpreting classes. Meanwhile, it also aims to contribute to the overseas development of Chinese oil industry.
