A Report On Chinese-English Consecutive Interpreting Practice From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory

With the fast development of the times,mobile phones have increasingly become the indispensable electronic products around people.In recent years,domestic smartphones have risen steadily,and they are going global gradually.Therefore,the new product launch events of home-made smartphones will receive much more attention from people worldwide in the future.And it will be common for major smartphone manufacturers to hire interpreters at the new product announcements.This paper,under the guidance of Interpretive Theory,will interpret and analyze the two speakers' speech on May 31st,2018,Xiaomi 8 launch event.The speaker Lei Jun,together with Feng Feng introduced various characters and demonstrated the high-end manufacturing process of the new mobile phone at the announcement.In this article,the interpreter uses the Interpretive Theory proposed by the famous French interpreter Danica Seleskovich as a basis to analyze some difficult issues such as unfamiliar words,redundancy,information loss,complex and long sentences appeared in the 2018 Xiaomi 8 launch event.In the framework of the Interpretive Theory,specific interpreting strategies such as conversion,amplification,and omission are discussed,thus concrete solutions are proposed.The interpreter also emphasizes the importance of pre-interpreting preparation and values the pre-interpreting work in terms of terminology,background and speaker's style.This paper contains four chapters:chapter one task introduction which includes the project background,significance and theoretical basis;chapter two project description mainly talking about pre-interpreting preparation and difficulties;chapter three case analysis giving the detailed solutions towards the difficulties listed in chapter two,and chapter four conclusion.The interpreter tries to research and analyze the announcement interpretation deeply with the help of the Interpretive Theory,and let the Interpretive Theory guide the interpreter's interpreting practice in the future.
