A Practice Report On Escort Interpreting For International Vocational Education Cooperation Project Conference

With the continuous advance of globalization, China is carrying out all-round, multilevel exchanges in various fields with the rest of the world, these exchanges are not limited to politics, economy and cultures, also reflected in the increasingly frequent exchanges on educational communication. International Conference on Education can open the window of communication and exchange between China and other countries, introducing foreign advanced teaching methods and educational models, showing China's education development to the international community. In those International Conferences on Education,interpreters as an important bridge and link, its role is self-evident. The author was commissioned by Heilongjiang Polytechnic to be an escort interpreter for the international vocational education cooperation project conference in September 2014, vocational education as the pioneer of cultivating high-quality applied talents, occupies the important strategic position in the national economic system reform and education structure reform, under our country's strong support, the demand and opportunity for vocational education to communicate with foreign colleges are growing. However, in the process of preparation for the task, the author found that the domestic and abroad specialized studies of the theory and practice on vocational education international conference interpreting and related topics of thesis are few, the talents who master the vocational education professional knowledge and use it into practice are also very scarce.In order to strengthen the attention of the international vocational education conference interpreting research, improve the quality of the English interpreter, demonstrate the important role of English interpreter in the international education exchange, the author takes the international vocational education cooperation project conference as an example, combines with the four scenarios of the interpreting task: campus tour, key disciplines introduction, practical training bases tour and city sightseeing and shopping, analyzed and summarized the task description of the interpreting practice, the translation process and experiences.The organizer of this conference, Heilongjiang Polytechnic has the largest schoolrunning scale within the province, represents the highest level of vocational education in Heilongjiang province. With the rise of the vocational education, Heilongjiang Polytechnic taking full advantage of its own strengths, through exchanges and cooperation with international vocational colleges, enhance their own schooling capability and influence, reached cooperation intentions on teacher exchanges, sharing network curriculum resources in the fair with Vocational Colleges from Australia, Thailand, South Korea. Through the interpreting practice, the author in the report introduces the preparation work before translation, problems encountered in the process of translation, the translation strategies and techniques. Combined with the professional knowledge and practical experience in interpreting, the author put forward some related problems in interpreting in the international vocational Education cooperation conference, further discussed and summarized the corresponding solutions. Such as non standard English listening, the application of the interpretive theory, training of comprehensive quality of escort interpreter. The author hopes that through the summary of practice as an escort interpreter of international vocational education cooperation project conference, it will provide reference information for future interpretation teaching and practitioners that engaged in related work of same type, and offer some help to improve the English interpreter's professional quality and comprehensive quality.
