The rapid development of China's economy has accelerated the exchanges between China and the rest of the world, and cultural exchanges have been made an important channel for the international exchanges. The idea of “One Belt and One Road” fully proves the great role of culture in promoting the good and friendly relationship between China and its neighbors. The spread of the Chinese excellent culture will not only improve China's cultural soft strength by popularizing its cultural influence internationally, but also make possible the effective protection of traditional Chinese culture. The traditional culture, being an important part of China's foreign cultural exchanges, is immeasurable in value.This translation report makes an introduction to the importance of “The Ancient Tea-Horse Road” and “The Old Town of Lijiang in cultural exchanges, the origin and the contents of the source text, the background, the purpose and the significance of the research. It expounds the overall ideas of the translation practice and the whole translation process, in which the relevant parallel texts, the background information and the supplementary means are well prepared and a translation plan is carefully made. Having been completed, the English versions are revised and modified very carefully for several times. In accordance with the theory of text typology, the source text is classified into the informative one, of which the function is to transform information. The intra-textural and extra-textural factors of Nord's text analysis mode are also introduced and listed for the good of the translation practice. Such translation strategies as domestication and foreignization are adopted into the translation and the reasons and the necessities are also elaborated in the case analysis. As the heart of the report, the case study plays the crucial role, in which such translation skills as annotation, transliteration, word formation, amplification, omission, reversion,positive and negative translation, reconstruction and segmentation, etc. are applied. The professional qualities of a translator are also classified, which include a good command of Chinese and English languages, of cultural information and of special features of ethnic groups. Besides, a sound theoretical foundation and the ability of the applications of translation strategies and skills are the important part of the translator's professional qualities as well. It is concluded that no translation can be done well except that it is well prepared beforehand and dealt with very carefully so that the integrity of theory and practice and that of academy and application can be reached.
