Domestication And Foreignization Of Tour Guide Presentation C-E Translation In The Light Of Reiss' Text Typology Theory

With the rapid development of China economy,inbound tourism is zooming in recent years.As an important and effective way to spread Chinese culture,the quality of tour guide presentation plays an important role.This is a subject worth much attention and interest.However,according to the author's investigation on the Internet and periodicals,up till now,most research on tour guide presentation translation only introduced translating experience but ignores translation theories.Some scholars have provided specific translation methods,but scatteredly instead of systemically and have stressed too much about domestication which affects national culture spread and travelers' demand for original Chinese culture.Based on the author's translation of tour guide presentation in Wu Ching-tzu Memorial and Former Residence,this thesis is an attempt to make some explorations in tour guide presentation translation practice.Under the guidance of Reiss'text typology theory,the author has analyzed the features of source text and point out it combined informative function and expressive function,and tends to prepare a combination of domestication and foreignization and applied these two translation strategies to deal with specific issues.This thesis consists of five parts:the first chapter is a brief introduction to translation project including its background,research purpose and significance.The second chapter is a brief introduction to the text typology theory.The third chapter is an analysis of the source text at the levels of words and sentences.The fourth chapter is discussion of the concrete translation strategies in a detailed way,supported and proved by examples in the light of the text typology theory to translate the source text.The last chapter is conclusion,summarizing what the author has learned from this translation project and considerations to improve the quality of tour guide presentations translation.
