Translation is an indispensable part to promote the cultural exchange and communication.The education is the most important factor of the development of all countries.With the development of Chinese academic works translation,Chinese educational works translation becomes important for the world to understand China and for spreading Chinese culture.The source text of this translation report was assigned by the Center for MTI Translation Studies of Sichuan Normal University.It was authorized and selected from the famous scholar—Professor Badeng Nima's educational work Confusion of Civilization: the Way out for Tibetan Education.The first translation edition of the whole monograph is completed by a translation team formed by students.The source text consists of nine chapters and the translator of this translation report is responsible for excerpts of the fourth chapter Analyses on Tibetan Cultural-Psychological Structure in which the main content is to introduce the formation,origin and development of cultural-psychological structure and characteristics of Tibetan cultural-psychological structure.This chapter embodies the special concepts of value of Tibetan people and the multidisciplinary research features of the source text.The source text of this translation report is an academic work on education,which is a content-focused text.Therefore,it contains a lot of information and its contents need to be translated accurately.Besides,the source text,having both international features and Chinese characteristics,needs different translation strategies in the translation process.Thus,the translator combines Reiss' s Text Typology Theory and analyses of the source text and specific examples in the translation to discuss translation strategies and related translation techniques of content-based texts.In the translation,the translator mainly uses translation strategies of domestication and foreignization and translation techniques at lexical and syntactic level such as combination and conversion to keep both linguistic features of the target language and cultural characteristics of the source language.The translation report is composed of six parts: the Introduction is an overview of the material selection and Reiss' s Text Typology Theory;Chapter One is to describe the preparation,difficulties,significance and quality control of the report;Chapter Two is to introduce the author and characteristics of the source text;Chapter Three is the introduction of Text Typology Theory and its guiding function in the selection of translation strategies and techniques;Chapter Four is about case analyses in which the translator uses Reiss' s theory to analyze examples extracted from the translation;the Conclusion is to summarize the above parts,mainly including the significance of the translation project,the summary of the translation experience and an outlook of the theory.This translation report has certain practical value such as accumulation of translation experience and theoretical exploration.Through the combination of Text Typology Theory analyses and practices,the transformation between different translation strategies and the use of translation techniques of words,phrases and discourses,the translator hopes that this report can encourage more students to participate in the study of education and translation and to join in the Chinese academic works translation project.Meanwhile,from this translation practice,the translator also hopes to strengthen foreign scholars' understanding of the pluralistic integration of the Chinese culture and ethnic features of Chinese education,especially the Tibetan cultural-psychological structure's effect on Tibetan education.
