A Translation Practice Report Of Rock Mechanics And Engineering Papers

With the economic boom in China and the accelerated tendency of globalization,more and more achievements have been made in scientific and technological field. At the same time, the academical communication in scientific and technological field has become one of the most important parts in social development. In rock mechanics and engineering field, continuous research papers have been published in scientific and technological periodicals and journals. The gigantic accomplishments in rock mechanics and engineering field also make a great contribution to the social development. To meet the demand of academical communication, large amount of rock mechanics and engineering papers needed to be translated into Chinese versions.This report is written based on the translation practice of rock mechanics and engineering papers. It specifically introduces the background of translation task,translation process, case analysis in author's translation and translation summary. This report studies the translation of rock mechanics and engineering papers and sums up some practical strategies performed in papers translation, i.e. the strategies of communicative translation in lexical level, syntactic level and textual level, which throw lights upon the further translation studies in rock mechanics and engineering papers.In this report, attempts have been made to solve the difficulties of how to keep the faithfulness and expressiveness in the translation of rock mechanics and engineering papers. With the guidance of Newmark's communicative translation theory, this report hopes to attract more and more attentions from academical scholars to promote the translation of rock mechanics and engineering papers and put forward more practical strategies in papers translation, in order that the academical communication in scientific and technological field could become more frequent and efficient.
