A Practice Report On The Application Of Explicitation Strategy In E-C Simulated Simultaneous Interpreting Of Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final

With the global development of sports events,the public attention on sports has grown gradually with each passing day.The demands for simultaneous interpreting of live sport commentaries to deliver timely and accurate information has been heating up.Therefore,the studies on simultaneous interpreting for sports event commentary should be developed in a professional way with the combination of theories and practice.This paper is a practice report on the application of explicitation strategy in the process of E-C simulated simultaneous interpreting of sports event,which takes the live commentary of Men’s Singles Final at Wimbledon Tournament as the selected linguistic data,aiming at the difficulties and problems caused by linguistic lexical differences and contextual cultural differences,proposes the solutions by applying explicitation strategies.Linguistic lexical differences manifest the differences of terminological signification,numerical signification and implicit logic in the sentence statements;contextual cultural differences manifest contextual restrictions and the differences of cultural background.The proposed solutions by applying the explicitation strategies are the explicitation of semantic connotation supplement and the explicitation of context culture restoration.The specific methods for the explicitation of semantic connotation supplement are explicitation of terminology paraphrasing,numeral relevance and logical relation;specific methods for the explicitation of context culture restoration are the explicitation of context comprehension and cultural intention.Adopting the qualitative comparative analysis,through the case analysis,the report discusses the effectiveness of the explicitation strategies to the E-C simultaneous interpreting of the sport events.The simulated simultaneous interpreting practice and the case analysis indicate that the application of the explicitation strategy can facilitate the ideographical comprehension and deep culture communication,the selection of the explicitation strategies is target language oriented,which can effectively convey the semantic connotation,logical relation and cultural value in the target language.
