This report is based on the simultaneous interpreting project for three foreign cadets' speeches on the “Malvinas War” and the “Liberation of Mosul” in the case discussion of the 40 th Defense and Strategy Study Course of National Defense University.The report starts with a brief introduction to the project and a description of the actual military simultaneous interpreting with text.It summarizes the main problems of the interpretation and then discusses their major causes.Based on the analyses of the causes and theoretical research,the report puts forward four targeted solutions.The report is divided into five chapters: Chapter One introduces the background information and features of the project.Chapter Two reviews the whole interpreting process and provides feedbacks collected as an objective assessment.Chapter Three categorizes the problems of the interpretation into four parts and analyzes their causes.The major causes,including lack of military knowledge,interference from the source text,unfamiliarity with different accents and the speaker's deviation from the text,are explained in typical examples.Chapter Four puts forward targeted solutions such as expanding military knowledge,improving the ability of deverbalization,getting familiar with different accents and developing emergency strategies.Chapter Five draws the conclusion.On the basis of his personal experience and theoretical research,the reporter makes a number of suggestions for improving military simultaneous interpreting.Firstly,improving working language competence as well as simultaneous interpreting skills;Secondly,enhancing the specific ability to make more targeted pre-interpreting preparations;Thirdly,accumulating military knowledge and terminology on a daily basis;Fourthly,strengthening adaptability to different accents and intercultural communication capability in training to meet the requirements of the PLA's growing international exchanges and cooperation.
