With the rapid development of China's economy and increasing comprehensive national strength in recent years, world culture has gradually been diversified, countries all over the world have developed increasing learning enthusiasm towards Chinese culture and Chinese language, and gradually formed popular trend. After decades of development and growth, Confucius Institute has established the bridge for exchange between China and the world, and enabled Chinese culture to come close to the West. The Confucius Institutes of North American countries are an important part of Chinese teaching in the world, and account for 1/4 of the total number in the world, the Confucius classrooms account for more than half of the total number in the world, while making great achievements, they also provide valuable experience for the Confucius Institutes in other regions in the world. When paying attention to the Confucius Institutes, people should also pay adequate attention to these overseas Chinese language teachers, who play an important role in promoting the development of Confucius Institutes. As they are a special group who work in foreign countries all over the years, cross-cultural vision and ability are very important for their daily life and teaching work. In order to help overseas Chinese language teachers to smoothly spread Chinese culture, it is very essential to help them recognize the core cultural differences and use the cultural differences to achieve self-regulation and adaptation. The paper adopts quantitative research method, firstly uses questionnaire data to understand the adaptation situation of Chinese language teachers in North America from three aspects, which are adaptation to life, adaptation to work, and adaptation to communication; then starts from psychological adaptation and social adaptation, takes the statistical characteristics of Chinese language teachers in North America as variables, and further studies the individual differences in cross-cultural adaptation process from vertical aspect.
