In recent years,the Confucius Institute has actively hold Chinese language teaching,Chinese testing,Chinese cultural activities,and training of Chinese language teachers.It is satisfied with the growing Chinese learning needs of people all over the world.I am a volunteer Chinese teachers who went to the Confucius Institute in Sofia,has experienced the entire cross-cultural adaptation process and has the conditions and resources to study cross-cultural adaptation issues.This article uses quantitative research and qualitative research to investigate and study the cross-cultural adaptation of 27 volunteer Chinese teachers in Bulgaria.In order to understand the situation,the author used questionnaire survey and interview methods to collect basic information.First of all,this paper conducts research on the questionnaire through quantitative analysis.The study finds that the best adaptation is social cultural adaptation,and the lowest adaptation level of social cultural adaptation is concentrated in interpersonal communication adaptation.It is manifested in:First,during the new crown epidemic,volunteers have poor adaptation to contact with Bulgarians,and volunteers are often discriminated against and prejudiced by local youth and elderly people.Second,it is difficult for volunteers to participate in Bulgarian social exchanges and associations.Third,the volunteers have a low degree of adaptability to the school staff room,it is difficult for the volunteers to integrate and behave passively.Fourth,the volunteers are less adaptable to the local diet.The overall work adaptability is relatively good,and those with a low level of adaptability are concentrated in the teaching style and language of instruction.Volunteers have low adaptability to online teaching.They mainly rely on the medium language for teaching in the classroom.It is almost impossible to use Chinese for teaching.Properly handle the classroom The ability for emergencies is low,unable to effectively complete complex classroom management tasks.The most challenging thing is psychological adaptation.The items with the lowest level of adaptation in psychological adaptation focus on personal life emotions and life satisfaction,which is prominently manifested in the volunteers' belief that life in Bulgaria is meaningless,and psychological loneliness and homesickness appear.Be more dependent on mobile phones in behavior and minimize face-to-face conversations.During the epidemic,volunteers'negative psychological problems became more serious,and most volunteers felt more vulnerable than usual.Secondly,this article examines and analyzes the relationship between the basic information factors,teaching area,English proficiency,and Bulgarian language proficiency of Chinese teacher volunteers in Bulgaria and the social and cultural adaptation,psychological adaptation and work adaptation in cross-cultural adaptation.The results show that The educational level and professional background of volunteer Chinese teachers in Bulgaria are significantly related to cross-cultural adaptation.Volunteers whose undergraduate major is Bulgarian are better in social and cultural adaptation.The K-means results show that the factors that psychological and socio-cultural adaptation have a large impact on Bulgarian Chinese teacher volunteers adaptation.They are unable to do things or have no interest,and volunteers during the new crown epidemic.People feel more likely to be depressed than usual,find it more difficult to do things in Bulgaria,adapt to the school staffroom,and adapt to making and maintaining friends in Bulgaria.Finally,the author selected 10 volunteers to conduct interviews,collected a lot of real details,and analyzed 9 typical cross-cultural adaptation cases.Afterwards,this article separately from the three perspectives to provide reference suggestions and ideas for future Chinese language teacher volunteers to Bulgaria to improve their cross-cultural adaptability.At the same time,the author summarized the whole article and deeply reflected on the shortcomings and limitations of this article.
