Graphics displays human’s thought,knowledge and emotion, and also can be used to communicate information, which is an important form and a medium. Graphics as one kind of visual language has been accepted by audience’s visual performance. Gestalt psychology can provide theoretical support for graphic design in the process of visual communication. A new research direction has been developed.The effect between vision and human’s thought has been the common question for psychology and visual communication design for a long time. Based on Gestalt psychology, the thesis is intended to analyze the "law" of visual perception and explore its guidance of thinking on graphic design. At the same time, the thesis attempts to investigate the effect of elements on graphics design, in an effort to help designers to construct thinking modes of visual perception. To grasp the law of visual perception may promote rational knowledge and visual communication for graphic design.According to Gestalt theory, the thesis mainly studies visual perception and psychological activity of audience in the process of visual communication. The effect of creative thinking of graphic design on Gestalt psychology and related rules have been explained with basic theories such as construction of Gestalt theory in visual perception, organization of graphical elements in psycho-physical field theory and visual selection of relationship between picture and background. The thesis attempts to provide new insight into graphic design on Gestalt theory and introduce the effect of graphic design on visual perception theory. As mentioned above, the thesis attempts to persuade to the importance of the audience’s cognition in the process of visual communication. It is an effective way for visual communication to how to guide graphic design on Gestalt theory.The thesis is intended to reveal the impact of audience’s thinking on the law of visual perception, which provides new vitality for graphic design by means of visual language construction in the field of Gestalt psychology.
