This report is based on my project of translating the novel Double or Die written by Charlie Higson. In this report. I will first introduce the whole translation task, including the book, the specific chapters, the translation schedule, the stylistic features and theoretical basis for strategies used, i.e. Nida's functional equivalence theory. Then I will analyze difficulties and mistakes that emerged during the translating process from the perspectives of proper nouns, long sentences and sentences with rhetorical devices combined with examples selected from both the source and target texts. Such strategies as transliteration, literal translation and textual annotation are adopted to deal with problems occurring in the translation of Double or Die.By completing this report, I can learn more about the translation strategies in literary translation, thus constantly making progress in the mastery of translation skills. Moreover, this report can also provide readers with some inspirations in techniques frequently used in literary translation with a view to improving the translation and thus promoting cultural exchange.
