With the development of Chinese economy and society, the Chinese position in the world is becoming increasingly important.Studying foreign language classroom attracted the attention of many educators.In actual practice of Chinese teaching,there are some problems such as students are not enthusiastic,dull atmosphere and so on. Many researchers started looking for effective teaching methods.Communicative approach is favored by many educators in foreign language teaching.This approach promotets to regard the language as a communicative tool and it attaches to the function of language.In Chinese writing course it can also be used to improve students' writing skills through many communicative activities.Exerting the advantages of communicative approach allows writing course to become interesting.This paper studies the situation that communicative approach is used in the intermediate writing course.Through questionnaires we can find out students' views on the writing course.The author design teaching cases based on the application of the principles of the communicative approach and students' specific situation.Then put it into practice.At last,try to put forward some useful proposals.In the first part of the thesis,it mainly expounds the background of this research, the outline of communicative approach and the situation of studying on communicative approach at home and abroad.In addition, research content and research methods are also included. In the second part of the thesis,I conducted a questionnaire survey among the intermediate foreign students from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. I conducted this questionnaire survey in order to find out what they are learning in the writing course and analyze the feasibility of using the communicative approach in the Writing Course. In the third part of the thesis, I have a general design of writing course based on The development of Chinese, Intermediate Writing.After that selecting a lesson to carry on instructional design and practice.Then I have an investigation feedback about the instructional design and implementation.In general,I hope this practice about combining the communicative approach and writing,will enable students to be more interested in writing lesson.The teaching process will be more realistic. Through it to help students improve their writing skills in Chinese.
