Practice Report On News Translation For The China Daily Website (Chinese Version)

This report is based on news translation for the China Daily website(Chinese version) since the author worked as its intern from July 2015 to January 2016, and the language pair is from English to Chinese.This report consists of five chapters: task description, process description, preparations for translation, case analyses and summary. The first chapter introduces source, contents, requirements, objectives and significance of the task. The second chapter elaborates the whole translation process, and the third chapter is a description for preparations before translation, including preparing translation tools, getting familiar with stylistic features of news, and reading and analyzing parallel texts. The fourth chapter is case analyses, and it is the core part of the whole report. The author combines stylistic features of news with the practice to analyze cases from three aspects, namely, accuracy, conciseness and the concern for cultural background of target readers. The fifth chapter is summary, in which the author focuses on the difficulties involved in the practice and experience summarized from it, which increases the author's experience for news translation and lays a good foundation for future career as a translator.
