Since the subject of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language has appeared, there have been an increasing number of teaching materials. Aside from standard textbooks, which are common throughout colleges, many educational organizations in China, and overseas schools, have also compiled a number of their own textbooks. Obviously, the ideas provided to the TCSL professional are helpful. However, many problems also arise. The issue concerning choosing and processing vocabulary is one of these problems, so this study is of great importance and significance.The analysis of vocabulary choosing and processing has been made based on the Chinese textbook Excellent Chinese 1 for the Korean Children. Focusing on the problems of vocabulary choosing and processing, a questionnaire has been made on teachers and learners in Korea who have been using this particular textbook to get the feedback from all aspects. The focus of this paper is to discover the advantages and disadvantages of the textbook Excellent Chinese 1 and put forward some suggestions on vocabulary choosing and processing in teaching Chinese as a second language.
