Based on the quantitative study, this dissertation researches the vocabularies ofShort-term Spoken Chinese,(Threshold, Elementary and Pre-Intermediate), which areedited by Professor Ma Jianfei. It counts the amount of the vocabularies, the grade ofthe vocabularies, the distribution of high frequency words and the recurrence rate ofthe words. Then it analyzes these aspects in the use of related theories such aslinguistics to make scientific and objective evaluations for these textbooks, based onwhich to evaluate the gain and loss of textbook compilation and give some practicalsuggestions to vocabulary choosing of short-term Chinese textbooks.Chapter One mainly introduces the meaning, the objective and the studying situationof this dissertation including related theories and methods to be applied. Then itstates the applying value of this dissertation.Chapter Two shows the statistics of both the amount of the vocabularies and thegrade of the vocabularies in Short-term Spoken Chinese (Threshold, Elementary andPre-Intermediate). It classifies these vocabularies into several categories according tothe characteristic of the vocabularies. Then it makes quantitative study with thegrade of the vocabularies.Chapter Three shows the statistics of both the distribution of high frequency wordsand the recurrence rate of the words in Short-term Spoken Chinese (Threshold,Elementary and Pre-Intermediate), then analyzes and evaluates them with relatedtheories.Chapter Four evaluates the win and loss of the vocabulary choosing of Short-termSpoken Chinese (Threshold, Elementary and Pre-Intermediate), which is based on thestudy of the previous chapters. Then it discusses some suggestions in vocabularychoosing of short-term Chinese textbooks.
