Fidelity and fluency are the basic standard to judge whether an interpreting practice is successful or not. As an important mode of interpreting, consecutive interpreting is expected to be more accurate and fluent when compared with simultaneous interpreting. Based on Daniel Gile's hypothesis of “Effort Models” and “Effort Model on Consecutive Interpretation” as theoretical guidance, this paper analyses typical cases of a consecutive interpreting practice from Chinese to English and reflects that improper energy distribution harms fidelity and fluency of interpretation. |
