This thesis focuses on Xiangtan Municipal Record,Greening and Landscaping in urban construction of Chapter III. This material has the typical features of Chinese informational text. It is common that the s ame subject has severa l predicates in syntactic structu re. The most difficult job is to translate Chinese verb-verb sentences. Chinese verb-verb sentences refers to two or more predicate verbs that share the same subject with serial verbs used to make a few phrases or short sentences. This es say aims to study the translation of Xiangtan Municipal Record with the theory of pragmatic equivalence. It not only expresses literal meanings of phrases, but also textual meanings with the translation principles of pragmatic equivalence, so as to crea te the sam e pragmatic effect for foreign investors to China as that f or domestic readers. This essay analyzes the features of the source language m aterials and discusses the translation methods of the prag matic equivalence to Chinese ve rb-verb sentences. Principles of accuracy, consistency, formality and conc iseness may ensure pragmatic equivalence between translated version and source text.
