During the eleven-month long internship in Peru, I had noticed a bunch of problems of some students who were studying primary Chinese in the Confucius Institute of Ricardo Palma in studying Chinese characters. Those problems which attracted me a lot have a direct influence on them studying Chinese. Compared with those foreign students who study in China, non-Chinese context brings series of unavoidable impediments to those foreign students who study Chinese in their mother land though,many of those problems students facing now should have been avoided with a good prediction. Therefore,I tried to collect enough data and analyze it to find out the main problems in writing and recognizing characters of them,based on the relative questionnaire surveys,classroom observation and collecting the dictation notes of students. To have an acknowledge of the processes of those problems coming into being, I'm going to analyze the present situation of characters teaching and studying from three aspects: the overseas Chinese teaching supporter, Confucius Institute; the actors of teaching characters, teachers in Confucius Institute;the subject of learning characters,students; At the end of each chapter of the last three chapters, I put forward to my owns suggestions according to the results of the surveys.
