In order to expand exchanges between Chinese and foreign countries in academia and promote China Philosophy and Social Sciences "going out", Chinese Academic Translation Projects supported by the National Social Science Fund came into being. Chen Xiaoduan is a professor from the College of Education, Shaanxi Normal University, whose book Research on Theory And Practice of Teaching:Special Issues was selected as one of the 2015 Chinese Academic Translation Projects. The report is based on the practical experience of translating task:Chapter five of this book. The book describes that under the background of the development of the times and the deepening of education reform, teaching philosophy has been updated and teaching focus has been transferred. This thesis is on the basis of American linguist, translator Eugene A. Nida's functional equivalence theory, which uses throughout the entire translation process, and requires the functional equivalence priority in formal equivalence, to achieve "smooth natural language, vivid expressive content, similar reaction of both source language readers and target language readers." (Tan Zaixi,2004:234). Additionally, this report analyzes the typical cases and the common problems in translating from following translation theories and strategies, such as the word selecting, omission and addition at vocabulary level; segmentation and combination, part of speech and voice conversion at syntactic level; literal translation and free translation at semantic level. The original text is an academic work, studying about the contemporary theoretical and practical teaching issues, so the translator tries to be faithful to the ideological content and expression of the author's habits, close to its language style. The report is composed of five chapters:the first chapter is the description of translation tasks, including task background, task content, and text characteristics; the second part is the translation process description, consisting of the pre-translation preparation, translation process and proofreading work; the third part introduces the theory of translation, analyzing Eugene A. Nida's functional equivalence theory, and combining with other strategies in translation practice; the fourth chapter is the translation case analysis, introducing the difficulties and typical cases encountered in the translating; the fifth part is summary of translation practice, pointing out the unsolved problems, shortcomings encountered and recommendations for further improvement.
