Along with the increasing foreign cultural communication as well as developing economic globalization,there is an unprecedented prosperousness that occurs to tourism industry.For the convenience of traveling and reducing obstruction of crosscultural communication,tourism handbook has emerged at the right moment,with the supply of bi-lingual and multi-lingual material for tourism handbooks falling short of their demand.Nevertheless,the dynamic nature and vitality of tourism industry has also decided growingly higher speed of information changing of scenic spots,transportation and accommodation,which makes it important and necessary to translate the newly published user manuals into targeted language,not only satisfying the traveling demand of enormous tourism enthusiasts,but also promoting the cross-cultural communication among countries with various languages.This project Roaming in Italy is a tourism manual with “Italy cultural routine” as its clue.For the developing tourism industry in Europe,use manuals in general languages such as French and German are popular.Thus,this translation practice report translated the newly released tourism manual Roaming in Italy into English,providing references for the audiences in English-speaking countries to travel in Italy,meanwhile providing referred data and material for Chinese-English amateurs in China.Roaming in Italy is the Chinese tourism handbook that has been published by the“Tibetan antelope tourism handbook editorial department” of Beijing Publishing Group in August,2016,which has covered the newly updated and accurate information for local tourism.Entrusted by Beijing Carnival Travel Bureau,the translator mainly translates cultural overviews and introduction for main scenic spots in this handbook and takes it as internal reference material.The number of English words that have been translated is estimated above 10 thousand,including four clues such as the splendid feast for civilization of taste——Italy as the kingdom of delicious food,artistic culture——carnival in Venice,the gorgeous traveling integrated with space-time and territory——Norman building in Sicily,paradise for thought-striking——from renaissance to contemporary literature,and the introductions of 31 scenic spots in Rome,Florence,Pisa and Naples etc.,all of which has satisfied the writing of this translation practice and English-translation practice report.During the process of translation,the translator guided by Reiss' s text typology and Christiane Nord's theory of text analysis in translation,analyzed the text type,intertextual and extratextual factors,and use literal translation,free translation,deletion and addition methods to deal with passive sentences,imperative sentences,long and complex sentences in with examples.In addition,in order to convey the information accurately and smoothly,the translator analyzes the reference books and websites,through Bing,CNKI tools and discussions with experts.The full completion of the project can make visitors have a deep understanding of Italy's art and culture and provide language services to the audiences in English-speaking.This project will provide convenience and references for the English audiences,travelers in Italy,researchers and amateurs of Italian artistic culture,meanwhile providing certain references for translator of tourism English.
