With the globalization of the world, the mass media is developing rapidly especially the English TV show. Through different kinds of programs, the European countries spread their culture and enhance the cultural communications. Among all these mass media, the documentary is the most effective one. The audience can feel an exotic culture directly through a rigorous and various language styles. However, to an audience who cannot understand another language, subtitles are the only way for them to learn the content of documentary. Thus, errors or a low-level translation would impact the value of the whole documentary. Sometimes, there is several language styles in one documentary,a correct translation can make the audience feel at home.Therefore,this report is an interpreting practice based on a documentary released by Channel V of England. The author also writes down the mistakes and problems discovered in the consecutive practice. The theory used in the practice is also analyzed in the report.Since there are not many documentaries of this theme, the interpreter has to do a lot of researches during the preparation. The proper nouns appeared in the documentary are also needed to find the correct Chinese translating version. The styles included in the program should also be interpreted in different ways. The whole process will also help the author gain experience for future work.This thesis consists of three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion. Its main contents are as follows:The first part is the introduction, including the background and the value of the realistic meaning of the program.The second part is the main body, which is made up of three chapters:Chapter One mainly introduces the task description. In this chapter, the author introduces the reason for choosing the documentary and the content of the program as well as the theory which applied in the consecutive interpretation.Chapter Two is the process of interpretation.in the chapter, the author described the preparation of interpretation and analyzes the significance of the post-interpretation, then introduced the process in detail.Chapter Three is the case analysis. In this chapter, the author first summarizes the problems and their solutions in the consecutive interpretation; then, the author analyzes how to interpret different language in different style under the interpretative theory of translation; at last, the interpreter talks about the notes taking and their improvements.The last part is the conclusion, which makes a summary of the whole report. The author summarizes the experiences for future practice and work.
