A Practice Report On C-E Translation Of Long Sentences In The Loan Contract

Today,in a society with socialist marketing economy,the loan contract,which practically deals with payment activities between individuals or individuals and enterprises,plays a key role in people's daily life.The language of the loan contract is rigorous and formal,and its legal force is expressed by long sentences with complicated structure and comprehensive contents.Therefore,translating long sentences of the loan contract accurately has become the significant part of translating the loan contract.Based on Loan Contract by Mortgage on Personal House of Bank of China Shanghai Branch and China Minsheng Banking Corp.,Ltd.,focused on the translation of long sentences of the loan contract,this thesis particularly discusses Chinese-English translation skills of non-subject-predicate sentences and complicated conditional sentences.After translation practice and study,the writer thinks that when translating non-subject-predicate sentences,translators need to decide subjects by language presumption to take translation skills of adding subjects and using the passive voice to standardize the language;or using “it” to keep the ambiguity of original text,which ensures that the language structure of translation is complete and the language style of the loan contract is expressed in the translation.When translating complicated conditional sentences,basing on the “end-focus” translation principle,the writer uses periodic sentences to put the major legal behavior of the long sentences in the end to emphasize the legal force of the loan contract language.Meanwhile,the skill of translating in the order of original text is used to keep the style of original text.The writer aims to make contribution to C-E translation of long sentences in the loan contract by this practice report.
