A Report On Translation Of Long Sentences In English Business Contracts

With the development of economy and China’s reform and opening-up, English contract is used in economic cooperation more and more frequently. The rigor and complexity of English contract make it difficult to understand accurately and properly for those who use it. Long sentence is a common language phenomenon in English. As the exchange of languages and cultures deepened, long English sentences in contrasts appear in higher frequency when translated into Chinese. The translation of long English sentences becomes one of the most difficult parts in English-Chinese translation.This report is written based on the English contract text from DaTang General Group. It has been researched and analyzed at the point of long sentences in the context and a series of strategies are adopted to achieve efficient translation of long sentences.In this report, the author lists the issues in the process of contract translation. By making a complete analysis of translating factors, the author proposes the respective solutions and strategies at theoretical and practical aspects, thus making the translation clear, smooth, natural and conforming to Chinese expressions.
