A Practice Report On Simulated Interpreting Of The 6th SCIO Briefing On V-Day Commemorations

This thesis is a simulated practice report on the 6th SCIO briefing on V-Day Commemorations. The briefing includes the following parts:general information about the commemorative activities, information about the attendance of foreign state leaders, information about foreign armies that will attend the event, information about overseas Chinese to attend the memorial activities, and information about the commemorative evening gala, as well as QA session.This practice report consists of four parts. Part one is introduction. In this part, some background information about the chosen material and the significance of choosing this material are illustrated. Part two is the description of the interpreting process, consisting of three aspects:preparation work, the interpretation process and follow-up work. In part three, the author summarizes the existing difficulties and problems in the interpreting process, and tries to come up with solutions under the guidance of Translation Variation. Part four is a wrap-up of this interpreting practice. The author summarizes what has been achieved and what is there to be done to have better performance in the future. Finally, the original text (in English), and the text of interpreted version are attached.The purpose of this practice report is to detect the problems at each stage of this practice by thoroughly reflecting on the whole process; categorize the problems, analyze the root causes and finally come up with solutions so as to facilitate future translation and interpreting work.
