Punctuation,an organic part of written Chinese,is also an important content in the Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language(TCFL).It has not been developed as special teaching in most textbooks.And Chinese teachers are easy to ignore this part in classroom teaching.Foreign students don't know enough standards of using punctuation,leading to errors in their written Chinese.This paper firstly compares the similarities and differences between Chinese and Indonesian punctuation marks,then this paper researches on the use of punctuation of Indonesian students at intermediate and advanced levels in Chinese,chosen from the “HSK dynamic composition corpus” of Beijing Language University.It makes a full and systematic inquiry of the errors of punctuation in the corpus by applying several approaches Contrastive analysis,data statistics and analysis methods,and data?charts?examples,and other forms as auxiliary.It classifies the errors into two types: written form error and using function error.The form of writing error includes writing form and writing format.Using function error mainly includes wrong substitution,adding and omission of punctuation.Finally,the paper discusses the reasons causing the errors which include negative transfer of mother tongue and target language ? cognitive strategy ? Chinese teaching.According to the error situation and combining the reasons,it puts forward some pertinent teaching suggestions,hoping to provide some operability teaching strategies for the teaching of punctuation marks.
