A Report On The Translation Of Quiet Leadership

As the product of history and literature,biographical literature is a literary genre which artistically reproduces life stories or characters of real people. It has historical,authentic, scientific, literary, and artistic characteristics, which makes biographical literature gradually become a critical culture. At the same time, with the development of globalization, experts and scholars both at home or abroad pay more attention to the translation of related literary works. On the basis of the Chinese translation of Quiet Leadership, this translation report is aimed at exploring influences of functional equivalence theory on biography translation. We hope to present a realistic and proper image for domestic readers and provide referential cases for related translation activities.Quiet Leadership is the autobiography of Carlo Ancelotti, an Italian famous football player and coach. This book introduces his experiences as a coach and thoughts and philosophy on the aspect of management, which has great application value and realistic significance. This translation practice report is divided into three parts: The first one is the introduction, which mainly introduces related information about the book and author,as well as some features about biographical literature translation. The second part is the main body. It includes translation task descriptions and translation process descriptions.Meanwhile, on the basis of taking functional equivalence theory as the theoretic support,this paper is concentrated on analyzing the problems and difficulties during the translation process from the perspective of proper nouns equivalence, semantic equivalence and stylistic equivalence. At the same time,it also mentions domestication and foreignism-oriented translation strategies, literal and free translation methods and etc.We are aimed at improving translation quality of biographical literature and personal translation skills by combining translation theory and practice. The last part is the conclusion. Feelings and experiences about finishing this report will be shared and some translation strategies of biographical literature will be summarized.
